Dalmatian Training

As with every breed Dalmatian training starts far before you, as the buyer, has an influence on it. It starts at the breeders kennel. Between the age of 4 and 8 weeks the puppy goes through it’s most important stage in life - let’s call it the formative period.

It is now that the puppy learns right from wrong. During the first two weeks of this period Mum and the litter mates of your puppy will be the tutors. While they are playing together important dog rules are established. Is is therefore very important that the Mum of the litter is a well socialised one.

From week 6 to 8 it is the breeders job to introduce the puppies to every day life situations such as household noise, indoors, outdoors, children, car journeys and many more. If this period in the puppies life goes wrong it will not be possible to grow to it’s full potential - ever!

Tara is fantastic with any of our Dalmatian Puppies. She teaches them the all important canine behaviour and I could not wish for a more reliable tutor

Monty is allowed in the whelping box as soon as our girls are happy with him being around. If he can he is in there from day one, keeping them clean, playing and interacting with the little once.

Tunnels and all similar toys are far more than just a toy. They move, they make noises, throw shadows and take so many fears away.

Being handled from day one, growing up in a working canine and human family, getting accustomed to noises, different floor types and every day occurrences can make all the difference in the world. This is why YOU need to choose a breeder who feels passionate about what they are doing because if they do not put the effort in then the puppy and you will loose out.

When your Dalmatian goes home with you:

It is over to you. By the time a Puppy is four months old it MUST have been introduced to as many different noises and circumstances as possible. Do not make the mistake and spoil or mollycoddle your puppy. Take it a little further each day; into the town centre, to the train station, introduce it to people wearing hats and umbrellas. Show your puppy what life has to offer and it will repay you for the rest of its life. Do not let this so important period slip by.
