It is not very often that a Puppy Buyer is aware of the amount of preparation and exitement that goes into the planning of a litter. Not only does one spend months or even years with the research of the correct Stud Dog for the mating but the trip to the Dog can be a bit of an adventure in itself:) See the pictures below to see what I mean.

Carro, the sire of our Millviews B2-Litter belongs to my dear friend Leelo Ratas from Alphadirato Dalmatians in Estonia so I stayed at her house during our trip, which I enjoyed very much.

For those of you out there that know Leelo and me well it will come as no surprise that we had a very good time together.
It was not only freezing cold during my stay at up to minus 24 but it was also a very damp cold. If you stood still for any lenghts of time, your feet froze to the ground, your hair turned into a block of ice and it was impossible to spend any lenght of time outdoors.
It took quite a bit of persuasion on my behalf to get Leelo to take me to the Christmas Market of Tallinn. Tallinn is the Capital of Estonia and absolutely beautiful. The old town is full of historical buildings and the contrast to the very modern city part is very atractive. Please see for yourself:

I learned a lot during my trip to Tallinn. Some very useful bits of information from a very patient Tarmo, who told me so much about the history of his country and some less usefull information such as the fact that I now know were Annika Lellep discovered her world famous kennel name "Rocca Al Mare".

I already mentioned that the journey to and from Estonia was quite an adventure. Well it started off with my very first part of the journey were the Aircraft from Munich could not go to Berlin Airport as planned. Instead we had the first wait until we where finally diverted to Duesseldorf from where we then got a connection flight to Helsinki.
Of course this meant that I missed my last Ferry from Helsinki (in Finland) to Tallinn (in Estonia) and Tegan and I had to spend the night at the Airpot in Helsinki.
On the way back it was about to get a whole lot worse. Due to weather problems in Germany my flight and two others where cancelled. I will spare you all the details but it certainly was an adventure to spend 26 hours at the Airpot in Helsinki. Due to my persistance Tegan and I where one out of two lucky lots, that where actually able to fly home the next day.
Thank God for that, as I do not think that my family would have been too impressed if I would have needed to spend Christmas in Finland. The pictures below where taken in front of the information desk. As you can see, during the early evening everybody was still quite exited and talkative. Later on during the night it looked slightly different.

Hotel vouchers as well as food and drinks vouchers where handed out but I decided to stay put, in order to be able to get onto the next best flight. It paid off! The Staff at Helsinki Airport was incredible and really put Tegan and myself at ease. We were welcome in every Restaurant and Tegan was fed well on cheese and prawn wholemeal sandwiches.
When we where finally in line for our flight, I was able to wait with Tegan by the lift until everybody was on the plane. This was really good as it was a quiet area with direct access to the outside so I could take Tegan out frequently.

It was quite a surprise when I finally got back to Germany to see that all those issues where caused by the apparent terible weather. This is what Helsinki Airport looked like, where the snow kept on coming. Back home I found clear runways?!

Unfortunately it was soo cold and uncomfortable that the mating had to take part indoors, so no pictures were taken by me as I knew that my camera (and my competence) would not be able to take good pictures.
Carro's Co-owner took pictures but unfortunately we are still waiting to receive them. So instead you find some pictures of Tegan on day 57 below. Not long to go and I will publish pictures in the "Birth Section".

This story continues with the "Birth" of our B2-Litter.
The B2-Litter was born on the 18.02.2010 |
Tegan was a Superstar during birth. As a first time Mum she took everything in her stride and just managed. No helping hand required here. So we now have seven girls of which four are black spotted (one is patched) and three liver spotted girls of which one is patched.
We also have four boys of which three are black spotted, one is patched and one liver spotted boy, that is also patched. All have good weights and are fighting fit.
| The first one was born at 08.10 0'clock this morning. It is a black spotted boy. |
| The second boy was soon to follow at 08.36 o'clock. Again a black spotted one. |
| Just like the first born boy, this was was also pretty thirsty, which is always a good sign. |
| And now there where three. A black spotted girl was born at 09.45 o'clock. |
| The fouth Puppy was a liver spotted and twiced patched girl, that was born at 11.26. |
| The fifth one was again a little black spotted girl, that was born at 11.51 o'clock. |
| All fife of them are pretty hungry. |
No. 6 was another black spotted girl which was born at 13.34 with No. 7 soon to follow at 12.47. No. 7 was a black spotted and patched boy. As these two where born so quickly, there was no time to take pictures in between.
After all, Tegan needed to be taken out, cleaned and the bedding needed changing whilst I had the chance.
| No. 8 was born at 13.35 and was a liver spotted and patched little boy. |
| Puppy No. 9 took her time. The little black spotted and patched girl was born at 17.02 o'clock. |
| I guess she took so long, so she was well rested and could climb up on top of all the other puppies right away :) |
| So now we have nine pupies and I think it is enough but Tegan thought otherwise so here the story continues. |
| So at 19.49 we had another black spotted male and then somebody heard the prayers of a friend of mine and at 21.15 and 23.39 two liver spotted girls came along without a patch. The chances that this combination would produce liver puppies where quite slim as there was only a 25% chance that Tegan would carry liver and even tough Carro obviously had to carry liver, he had never produced a liver puppy before, not even with a liver spotted Mum. |
So now there we are. We have a whole dozen of little hopeful lifes, a whole dozen that is lively, well, a bliss to watch and a whole dozen, that is now hoping for the kind of family that will take them on, no matter what will come.
The picture Stoy continues in Week one of the B2 Litter.
